Many businesses in Scotland struggle with slow broadband speeds which restrict their ways of work, performance, and opportunities. The Scottish and UK Governments are both running programmes to upgrade broadband infrastructure across the country.

The Scottish Government’s R100 programme aims to bring superfast broadband to all Scottish homes and businesses by 2028. It is split into two parts: contracts with Openreach, and the Scottish Broadband Voucher Scheme (SBVS). You can check if your address is included in the plans here. If your property is covered by the R100 contract build plan, then all you need to do is wait for the upgrades to be completed in your area and then order the service. If you are eligible for a voucher, you will need to work with a supplier to claim it. A full list of registered suppliers can be found here.

The UK Government’s Project Gigabit programme aims to achieve national Gigabit broadband coverage by 2030. It is in an earlier stage in Scotland than the R100 programme. You can find out more about this here, particularly in appendices C, E, and G. If you would like to be added to our Project Gigabit update list, please get in touch using the email below.

The Digital Engagement Team works across Angus, Dundee, Fife, and Perth & Kinross to improve digital connectivity in the region. If you have any questions about the government support available, or would like to discuss your situation, please get in touch using the contact details below.
