Each itinerary showcases multiple attractions, including Perth Museum, Pitlochry Festival Theatre, outdoor activity providers, cook schools, and independent shops and eateries. Encouraging three- and four-day breaks, the focus is on increasing dwell time, by offering compelling reasons to “stay a little longer” while exploring all that there is to offer.

The promotion, which will run through the Perth City and Towns platform, features a series of eight itineraries all themed around different aspects of the region’s offer.

  • Historical short break
  • 3-day Cultural itinerary
  • Food and Drink short break
  • Perthshire Great Outdoors itinerary
  • 14 days in Perth and Kinross
  • Highland Perthshire by Rail
  • 5-day nature break
  • 3-day city and towns break

Perth and Kinross Council Leader, Councillor Grant Laing, commented, “These wonderful itineraries really do showcase the best that the region has to offer. As an area, we boast a wealth of award-winning attractions, fantastic businesses and unrivalled outdoor adventure

“By providing easy-to-follow, pick and mix style schedules, our aim is to encourage people to stay a little longer, spend a little more, and explore as much of our beautiful region as possible.

“I may be biased, but I believe that Perth and Kinross lays claim to many of the best days out that Scotland has to offer. From the strong historical links between the stone of destiny, Perth Museum and Scone Palace, to scaling Munros, taking in a live music set, and raising a glass or two at one of our many distilleries, we offer the best of city life and countryside, proud heritage and contemporary living.”

In line with the Council’s commitment to sustainability and climate change, the itineraries promote the use of public transport to travel between Perth city centre and towns such as Pitlochry, Crieff, Dunkeld and Kinross.

Councillor Laing continued, “Perth and Kinross covers over 2000 square miles and tourists looking to experience the best of Scotland, can travel by bus or train, across a large portion of that.”

Furthermore, each itinerary offers ideas that residents and tourists can explore for free, providing inspiration for those travelling or planning days out on a budget.

Targeting a two-hour drive time radius, the campaign includes national and regional press, radio, influencer visits, PR and digital ads.

Emily Queen, PKC city and towns manager commented, “As well as the initial boost from the paid media campaign, the itineraries will provide rich, evergreen content for the platform, which will be utilised on an ongoing basis as a key part of the social and SEO strategies.”

The itineraries feature over 80 attractions, businesses, and free activities spanning Perth city, Strathearn, Highland Perthshire, Blairgowrie, Cateran Country, and Kinross.
